Abstract

The Direct to Film (DTF) printing industry in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) faces challenges in maintaining product quality consistency due to production process variations that may cause defects. This study aims to control the quality of DTF printing production processes through the integration of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods. The research was conducted at a DTF printing MSME in Surabaya using a quantitative approach based on production and defect data. The DMAIC stages were applied to identify quality problems, measure process capability, analyze root causes, and develop improvement recommendations, while FMEA was used to prioritize risks based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The results showed a total production of 3,857 units with 464 defective units. Process capability analysis resulted in a DPMO value of 24,060.2 and a sigma level of 3.49. Based on the FMEA analysis, the highest improvement priority was identified in the failure mode of suboptimal curing temperature with an RPN value of 252. The integration of DMAIC-FMEA provides a systematic approach to determining improvement priorities and enhancing the quality control of DTF printing processes in MSMEs.
