Abstract: Indonesia is facing a mental health crisis, with 20% of its population at risk. In Medan City, the 15–24 age group shows the highest prevalence of depression, necessitating a shift from restrictive environments to restorative psychiatric facilities. This study aims to design a Type C Psychiatric Hospital in Medan Polonia by utilizing Green Architecture concepts to balance clinical safety with a healing atmosphere. The research method employed is a qualitative descriptive method with an architectural design approach consisting of six systematic stages: (1) identifying safety and environmental issues; (2) reviewing psychiatric and green building standards; (3) analyzing site and micro-climate conditions; (4) conducting spatial and circulation programming; (5) synthesizing the concept; and (6) transforming the concept into the final architectural design. The integration of the GREENSHIP framework focuses on Appropriate Site Development (ASD) through a multi-mass strategy to reduce institutional rigidity, and Indoor Health and Comfort (IHC) by utilizing radial circulation and healing gardens for constant connectivity to nature. The design employs fluid-curvilinear forms to eliminate intimidating sharp corners, ensuring a psychologically secure environment. This project demonstrates that green, nature-integrated architecture can effectively reduce social stigma and accelerate the recovery process for youth patients.
